Philp J. James

Philip J. James, CAE
NGA President & CEO

Education: B.A. English Literature, University of Arizona; M.P.A., George Mason University School of Public Policy; Certified Association Executive (CAE), 1981 to present

Career Highlights: Phil James has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Glass Association since August 1982. He began his career in city government in 1971, as the first Aide to the Mayor and City Council in Tucson, Arizona. In 1972, he was named Director of Community Relations for the City of Tucson.

In 1974, Phil accepted a position with the American Institute of Architects in southern Arizona and in 1975 joined the AIA’s California Council staff in San Francisco. In 1977, he was named Executive Director of the San Francisco-based California Association for Medical Technology, a position he held until coming to Washington, DC in 1982.

In addition to serving on various domestic glass industry committees and boards, Phil is the American representative to the Union Europeenne des Miroitiers Vitriers (the European Glass Federation); the Automotive Glass Europe Federation; and the Asociacion de las Camaras del Vidrio del Mercosur (the Federation of Glass Associations of the Mercosur), in South America.

Phil maintains currency as a Certified Association Executive (CAE), a designation he first received in 1981. During his 1963-1966 U.S. Army military service, Phil served at duty stations in the Orient and Virginia.

Nicole Harris

Nicole Harris, CAE
Vice President & Publisher

Education: B.A. English, George Mason University; M.A. History, George Mason University; Certified Association Executive (CAE), 2003 to present 

Career Highlights: Nicole began her career at NGA in 1990 in the Publications Department as Editor in Chief.  In 1992, she was promoted to Publisher of NGA’s two publications, Glass Magazine and AutoGlass. In 1995, Nicole initiated the purchase of Window & Door magazine and spearheaded the leadership position of all three magazines in editorial excellence and advertising market share. As publisher, Nicole and her team are responsible for producing content for and about the industries served by NGA across three information platforms: print magazines, their corresponding websites--www.GlassMagazine.net, www.WindowandDoor.net, www.AutoGlassmagazine.net--and two electronic newsletters, e-glassweekly and WDweekly.  Prior to NGA, Nicole served as editor in chief of Destinations Magazine, a b2b travel magazine, and as head of the editorial content division of Spectrum Publishing, a full-service publishing and graphics company in Northern Virginia.

Denise M. Sheehan

Denise M. Sheehan
Vice President, Industry Events

Education: B.S. Education/Speech Pathology, James Madison University
 
Career Highlights: Denise joined the NGA in September 1990 as Manager of Meetings and Expositions, eventually rising to her current position as Vice President of Industry Events. Denise and her team are responsible for managing and building the GlassBuild America trade show, which has been in Trade Show Week’s Top 200 largest trade shows in the U.S. for the past three years and has also earned recognition as one of the 50 fastest growing shows in America. In addition to GlassBuild America, the Industry Events department is responsible for managing the National Auto Glass Conference and other association-sponsored conferences and meetings, along with participation in various industry meetings/partnerships and trade shows in North America and internationally. Prior to joining the NGA, Denise spent 14 years as a senior executive with a well-respected employee placement/human resources firm in Washington, DC, starting as a placement counselor and eventually rising to the position of vice president and partner. This followed two years as a speech pathology therapist in rural Virginia, a position she held directly upon graduation from JMU.

David W. Walker

David W. Walker
Vice President, Association Services

Education: B.A. Government, University of Notre Dame; M.B.A., Lake Forest School of Management; Duke University, Fuqua School of Management, Innovative Leadership Executive Management Program

Career Highlights:David Walker joined the National Glass Association as its Vice President of Association Services in September 2005, after more than 20 successful years at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). During his brief tenure at the NGA, David has overseen dramatic growth in the organization’s member services program, taking it from the ground floor to a model for the industry.  He helped re-energize the NGA’s education and training initiatives by launching the industry’s first online technical training school, MyGlassClass.com.  He was the innovative force behind the glass industry’s first comprehensive annual benchmark study and the association’s popular Glazing Executives Forum.  He revitalized the NGA’s Glass Management Institute and nearly tripled the number of glass technician certifications issued to member companies. David has plied new paths with the launch of online certification – an industry first – and by establishing a historic training alliance with the State of California, which serves as a template for similar alliances with a growing number of states.  As chief marketing officer at the NAM, David generated more than $1.5 million in incremental annual revenue by directing the association’s award-winning menu of value-added services for more than 14,000 member companies. Prior to the NAM, David served as assistant government affairs representative for the Amoco Corporation.  David is a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and he earned his MBA with highest honors from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management while working full time.  He later graduated from the Innovative Leadership Executive Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Management

Leo M. Cyr

Leo M. Cyr
Vice President, NGA Auto Glass Division
Executive Director, NGA Coalition for Auto Glass Safety & Public Awareness

Education: B.A. Government Relations, Ohio University; M.A. International Business, George Washington University

Career Highlights: Leo Cyr joined the National Glass Association in 1984 as Director—and eventually Vice President of Member Services, a position he held until leaving in 1990 to pursue a career in the auto glass industry. During his 13 years away from the NGA, he served in vice president positions for both Harmon Auto Glass and NOVUS Windshield Repair service, before returning to the NGA as its Vice President of Auto Glass in 2003. Prior to his first tour with the NGA, Leo had already accumulated considerable experience in association management, including executive positions with the National Association of Plumbing-Heating- Cooling Contractors; National Utility Contractors, and the Rubber Manufacturers Association.

Michele L. Nosko

Michele L. Nosko
Vice President of Marketing

Education: B.S. Communications Media, Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Career Highlights: Michele began her career at NGA in 1991 in the Publications Department as the Advertising Staff Assistant. She quickly moved into Circulation, where she managed the department for nearly 10 years. In the fall of 2000, she was tapped to head-up NGA’s newly formed Marketing Department and was made a Vice President in September 2004. In her role as Vice President of Marketing, she and her team are responsible for promoting NGA’s industry events—GlassBuild America and the National Auto Glass Conference; promoting NGA’s education and training products—including www.MyGlassClass.com and the Glazing Executives Forum; maintaining NGA’s family of five Web sites—www.glass.org, www.GlassBuildAmerica.com, www.GlassMagazine.net, www.WindowandDoor.net, www.AutoGlassmagazine.net; and advancing NGA’s image overall.

Pamela S. Paroline

Pamela S. Paroline 
Director of Administration & Finance

Education: Business Management, Bradford Business School, Pittsburgh, PA; Human Resource Certification, FCPS Adult Ed.
 
Career Highlights: Pam began working at NGA in 2005 as Director of Administration and Finance.  She and her team manage the day to day operations of accounting, office and facility operations, human resources and personnel.  Before joining NGA, she was Director of Program Administration for the Infant Adoption Awareness Training Program, a federal grant through the National Council for Adoption which trained over 14,000 healthcare professionals nationally.  Her career also includes working for syndicated columnist and journalist, Carl T. Rowan as well as serving as Executive Director of his scholarship program, Project Excellence, Inc.

Marc G. Doggett

Marc G. Doggett, CCP
Director of Information Technology

Education: A.S. General Studies (Magna Cum Laude), Northern Virginia Community College; B.S. Database Technology (Summa Cum Laude), Strayer University; Alpha Chi National Honor & Scholarship Society lifetime member; Certified Computing Professional (CCP) by Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals, 1997 to present.

Career Highlights: Marc joined the NGA in 1987 as UNIX Systems Administrator when NGA was one third its current size. He was promoted to Computer Operations Manager and subsequently as Director of IT in 2002. Marc oversees NGA's three-person IT department, including responsibility for network administration and database development efforts. Marc acquired mid-range and large IBM mainframe operations experience with Health Application Systems, Kaiser-Roth, Carolina Power & Light Company, and at the Times-Journal in Springfield, VA, and has managed an extensive network in an AS/400 IBM environment with dozens of Microsoft Servers and a staff of 150 for DHL Same Day in Sterling, VA. Marc, member of the D.C. Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi, is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Information Systems Technology at George Washington University.
