Certified Auto Glass Repair Technician Program

The Certified Auto Glass Repair Technician Program is nationally recognized, designed to enhance professional standards, and developed in part by the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) especially for auto glass repair professionals. A repair technician's technical knowledge is measured by computerized exams professionally administered at testing centers located around the country and Canada.

Technicians can get certified as:

  • Certified Auto Glass Repair Technician (CAGRT) Requirements: Has actively participated in the auto glass repair business for at least six months and personally completed 200 or more auto glass repairs, or has successfully completed an auto glass repair training program and personally completed 200 or more auto glass repairs.

Attention Veterans!
Funding under the Montgomery GI Bill

The National Glass Association (NGA) is pleased to announce the recent approval to provide veterans with auto glass replacement, auto glass repair, and glass installer certification. This move to expand NGA's certification programs to the military seeks to promote safety, provide post-military career options, and develop a new skilled labor force for the auto glass and glass industries.

Veterans under the new licensing and certification benefit of the Montgomery GI Bill, if eligible and approved, will receive reimbursement by the Department of Veterans Affairs for certification exams taken. The following NGA certification exams are now available to veterans: Certified Auto Glass Technician, Certified Master Auto Glass Technician, Certified Auto Glass Repair Technician, and Certified Glass Installer. Members of the military under the Department of Defense Activity for Non Traditional Education Systems (DANTES) may participate in NGA's certification programs through approximately 580 DANTES test centers, and if eligible and approved, can receive reimbursement by the Department of Veterans Affairs for certification exams taken. The following NGA certification exams are now available to military members: Certified Auto Glass Technician, Certified Master Auto Glass Technician, Certified Auto Glass Repair Technician, and Certified Glass Installer.
