The purpose of this program is to provide a means to improve professionalism, potentially reduce premiums, and identify bona fide businesses within the glass and glass-related industries. Accredited businesses will strive for reduced injuries and insurance claims due to adopting the criteria specified in the program. Accredited businesses will have demonstrated their commitment to quality and safety. The Business Accreditation Program is a mechanism to show evidence that accredited companies are conducting best business practices. NGA wants to lead the way in recognizing the credible and honorable companies that care about the safety of their customers as well as link the professionals to the consumer. Accredited businesses should stress corporate responsibility. Corporate responsibility refers to basic expectations of the companybusiness ethics, protection of public health, safety, and the environment. Health, safety, and environmental considerations include the company's operations as well as the life cycles of products and services. Inclusion of public responsibility areas within a performance system means meeting all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory requirements: financial, licensing, and those of the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). NGA believes that consumers and the insurance industry should be confident they are using a reputable company committed to quality and safety.
