Where Do You Go for Help? Consult a Professional

Look in any yellow pages under "glass" and you are sure to find a variety of businesses that specialize in the installation of shower enclosures.

When you visit an installer's shop you are likely to be able to review photography of the company's craftsmanship as well as look at manufacturers' brochures that demonstrate the various types of materials available for use in your enclosure.

You will need to have your budget in mind as well as the dimensions of your bathroom. Let the installer know if this is a new home or a remodeling project, what your timelines are, who will be using the shower, and how often.

Other questions you should consider before visiting the glass shop include:
  • Do you want a bath/shower combination? And is that simply a tub with an enclosure surrounding it or do you have the space to have both a separate, open tub and an enclosed shower?
  • Do you want the option of a steam bath?
  • Have you thought about where all the plumbing fixtures will be in relation to the door of your enclosure?
  • Have you measured all the dimensions and drawn a rough sketch of your bathroom?
  • Do you want clear or obscure glass?
  • What color or type of finish do you want for the metal hardware that serves as the framework for your enclosure?
  • Are the walls and floor of your bathroom straight and plumb?
  • Your professional glass installer will be able to help you make the choices that are right for you. A professional installation will leave you with a beautiful, leak-free enclosure designed to give you and your family years of service and pleasure.
