Candidate Exam Fees

Auto Glass Technician Exam:
$69 for NGA members (for Technician, Spanish and Master Exams)
$229 for Non-members (for Technician, Spanish and Master Exams)

Combo Exam fee is:
$140 for NGA members (Technician & Master Exam)
$329 for Non-members (Technician & Master Exam)

The exam fee entitles you to one examination registration and one copy of your examination results. Upon passing the exam you will receive: one copy of your certificate, one ID card, and six (6) NGA certified logo uniform patches.
Note: The entire exam fee will be forfeited if the candidate fails to appear for a scheduled exam or arrives late for a scheduled exam. The exam registration cannot be substituted for another candidate and is non-transferable.

Processing Fee: $75
This fee will be taken from your examination fee whether or not you are considered eligible to take the exam, or if you cancel your application before your exam date. Therefore, if you are deemed ineligible or cancel your application before noon, two days before your chosen exam date, you will receive a refund minus the $75 processing fee.

Insufficient Funds Fee: $25
If you pay your fee by credit card and your credit card company refuses to approve the charge, a $25 fee will be added to your total payment. Once a credit card payment has been denied, NGA will only accept payment by money order or certified check. If your personal check does not clear, a $25 charge will be added and NGA will only accept subsequent payment by money order or certified check.

Note: Fees are always subject to change. It is your responsibility to make sure you have the most current copy of the Exam Handbook and that you submit the correct fee.

Testing Center Vouchers and Rebate Policy
Not applicable for online exams.

Accommodations for Candidates with Disabilities
If you need to make a special arrangement because of a disabling condition, you must take the onsite (LaserGrade Testing Center) exam. Complete the registration form for Onsite Certification Exams and ask for special testing services. This request must be included in writing with your registration packet. All requests are handled on an individual basis. Several test sites have access for candidates with disabilities. If a candidate needs special testing arrangements due to impaired sensory, manual or speaking skills, or other disabilities, you must send NGA a letter from a licensed physician, optometrist, social worker, psychologist or other appropriate professional.

The letter must be written on the healthcare professional's letterhead and include the professional's title, license number, address and telephone number and the date. The letter must also include a diagnosis of the disabling condition, and explain why special accommodations are necessary. The letter must have an original signature from the professional and be dated no more than 5 years prior to the application. Faxes and photocopies will not be accepted.

If you need special accommodations because of a learning disability, you must submit official documentation regarding your disability to NGA. It may take some time to make special arrangements; NGA recommends that candidates make their requests as soon as possible. NGA will make every effort to assist, except when it may alter the examination or results, or if it causes an undue burden on the testing center.

Once the request for special accommodations has been approved, LaserGrade will decide upon the time and place of the specially arranged exam. LaserGrade will then let the candidate know directly about these arrangements. All special arrangements are subject to the policies of NGA.

NGA Policy on Non-Discrimination
NGA does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, ethnic ancestry, national origin, religion, creed, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, medical condition, or physical disability.

Making your Exam Reservation
All eligible candidates will receive an authorization to test email (ATT) which contains instructions of how to log on to take the exam. Carefully check your authorization email. Your name, and your email address as it appears on your registration form, must match the name the Pedagogue Direct has on file. The incorrect spelling of your name or email address
may result in being denied access to the online test center and result in receiving the status of a "no-show" and forfeiture of your exam fee. If any information is incorrect, contact NGA's Certification Coordinator at 703-442-4890 ext. 130 prior to taking your test.

When you receive your authorization to test email you may logon to the NGA Certification Center, http://pxd.pedagogue.com/58nga%2D001/ to take the exam. Be sure to give yourself adequate time to prepare for the exam.

Rescheduling an Exam
To reschedule an exam, you must notify LaserGrade by noon two (2) days before your scheduled exam date. Your rescheduled examination date must still fall within your original one year eligibility period. The full exam fee from your first reservation will be applied to your new exam date. You will not be able to change your reservation if it is later than noon two (2) days before your scheduled exam. If you do not reschedule within these guidelines, you will forfeit your entire exam fee. If you wish to reapply at a later date you will be required to submit a new registration form and all applicable fees.

Canceling the Exam
Immediately call NGA's toll free number 866/342-5642 ext. 130 to cancel. If you do not cancel your exam you will be considered absent or a no-show and will forfeit all registration fees.

Failing to take an Exam
If you do not take the exam within one year of registering, you will lose the full exam fee. To take the exam in the future, you will need to resubmit your entire registration, with payment in full.

Deferrals/Special Circumstances
Not applicable for online examinations.

Requesting a Refund
If you do not wish to take the exam within your one year of eligibility and would like a refund, you must make that request in writing and send it to the Certification Department, NGA, 8200 Greensboro Drive, Suite 302, McLean, VA 22102. Be sure to include your full name, address, the last four digits of your social security number and signature. You will receive a refund of the registration fee, minus the $75 processing fee, following receipt of your written request. Your eligibility to take the exam will be cancelled and you will need to register as a new candidate and pay all applicable fees, if you decide to take the exam in the future.

Computer Based Testing
No prior knowledge of computers or typing is needed to take the examination. Once the examination begins, you will have 60 seconds per question and a total of 90 minutes to complete it. You will be unable to go back and forth between questions to review. Answer each question as it appears on your screen. Failure to answer a question is graded as an incorrect answer. If you have not answered a question within the 60 second timeframe, the question will be graded as incorrect and the exam will proceed to the next question. If at the end of the 90 minute exam session you have not completed the exam, the exam will stop and grade the exam.

Upon your completion of the examination, you will receive your examination results. You will learn immediately whether you passed the examination. The NGA will review the candidate’s security questions that appear during the examination to ensure the candidate’s identity. If the candidate answers the security questions incorrectly his passing exam score will be changed to fail.

You do not need extensive computer experience to take the exam. The benefits of computer based testing are:

• Immediate score reporting
• Online tutorials to guide you on the use of a computer to take an examination
• The ability to track and display the time remaining on the exam

Exam Security
The candidate’s supervisor must agree to and sign the “Test Candidate’s Proctor Agreement” at the end of online certification registration form. The supervisor will guarantee the exam will be conducted in his/her office or place of business during regular business hours. The supervisor further agrees to ensure the candidate does not receive help from others during the exam. Failure to provide these safeguards is in violation of the certification code of conduct. Examination fees will not be refunded and the candidate may be permanently prohibited from retaking the certification exam.

The performance of all candidates is monitored and may be analyzed to detect fraud. This data is given to the National Glass Association. Candidates who violate security measures will not have their exams scored.
