WASHINGTON DC, APRIL 10, 2000-The National Glass Association is pleased
to announce that the Glass Association of North America (GANA) is its
new partner in hosting the largest trade fair in the Americas-The NGA
Show™.
"The NGA is honored to have GANA as a partner in our industry's major
trade show," said Philip J. James, NGA President. "We look forward to
more opportunities to provide the members of both associations with
improved value and to demonstrate our ability to respond to our industry's
demands for more association unity."
The partnership was forged in Las Vegas last month during the most successful
NGA Show on record. GANA's board of directors voted unanimously to become
a partner in future shows, starting with the Miami Beach, FL show, March
14-16, 2001.
"We think this important new partnership is a logical step toward improved
cooperation between the industry's two major trade associations," said
William J. Birch, Executive Vice President of GANA. "Our members are
very pleased about this latest development."
The trade show partnership is the latest in a series of initiatives
between the NGA and GANA under the "Millennium Alliance" set of initiatives
established in 1999. The two associations began their historic cooperation
with GANA naming Glass Magazine as its official publication. The two
groups also worked on co-sponsoring a new informational Web site for
the flat glass industry and public at large-glassFACTS.com-, which was
launched at the NGA Show™ in Las Vegas. GANA and NGA also announced
their joint participation at upcoming industry trade shows, including
the AIA meeting and trade show in Philadelphia next month and the CSI
Convention and Exhibit in Atlanta in June.
Founded in 1948, the National Glass Association (NGA) is the largest
trade association representing the flat (architectural and automotive)
glass industry. NGA's more than 4,900 member companies and locations
reflect the entire flat glass market. In addition to hosting The NGA
Show and the National Auto Glass Conference & EXPO, the NGA offers certification,
education, and training programs. NGA also publishes the leading magazines
covering the field: Glass Magazine, Window & Door, and AutoGlass and
serves the industry and general public with its Web sites: www.glass.org
and www.windowanddoor.net.
The Glass Association of North America is made up of five divisions:
Building Envelope Contractors, Distribution, Laminating, Mirror, and
Tempering. GANA offers a wide variety of publications for the flat glass
industry, including the Glazing Manual and Engineering Standards Manual.
Additionally, GANA sponsors the annual Glass Week Conference and provides
a series of educational seminars and programs. GANA is managed by Association
Services Corp. (ASC) under the leadership of William J. Birch. ASC also
manages the Primary Glass Manufacturers Council, the Glazing Industry
Code Committee, the Bath Enclosure Manufacturers Association, the National
Sunroom Association, and the Protective Glazing Council.
