NGA HOSTS REVAMPED GLASS INSTALLER TECHNICAL INSTITUTE WASHINGTON, DC, May 1, 2007—The National Glass Association (NGA) held a revamped Glass Installer Technical Institute (GITI) from April 23-27 in Henderson, NV. Thirteen glazing professionals attended the class instructed by Leroy Richards of Richard's Glass Service of Omaha, NE and Ron Clawson of Henderson, NV. Held in a fully operating glass business in Henderson, NV, students learned the basics of glass installation in an actual glass business environment. The students walked away with valuable hands-on experience and knowledge to take them further in their careers. When asked to rate their overall experience, the students unanimously ranked the class a “5” on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being highest. This high score is echoed in the comments heard from the students. “This class was a pool of knowledge with practical, everyday, real life information and techniques,” stated student Mark Miller of Murrieta, CA. “Being brand new in the industry, I feel I have gained a good amount of industry knowledge that I will be able to take with me and use.” Fellow student Josh Quick of Jackson, CA had this to say, “The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful—I definitely learned more in one week than the previous year on the job.” Perhaps summing up the experience best was student Kevin Maxey of Valparaiso, IN who said, “There is no other training out there like this. I have learned more in this class than I have fumbling around using trial and error over the last year. Without a doubt I will be back at my shop making more money because now I can do it right the first time and faster.” The next Glass Installer Technical Institute will be held October 22-26, 2007 in Henderson, NV.
