NGA MARKS 40th EARTH DAY WITH PROGRESS, NOT FANFARE
Industry has Year-Round Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

Washington, DC (April 22, 2010) – Earth Day celebrations can be hollow affairs unless they’re backed up by meaningful action the other 364 days of the year.  That’s why the National Glass Association (NGA) is so proud to mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  Glass companies invest millions of dollars every year in better glass technology that has improved the energy efficiency of everything from the windows in our homes to the glass facades on commercial buildings to the windshields in our vehicles.

Among other environmental initiatives, the NGA is an active member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Efficiency Consortium, which focuses on pushing the outer limits of glass and glazing technology to reduce energy use.

The NGA’s annual GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window, and Door Expo is widely known as the leading platform for new product rollouts in the industry.  Glass companies from across North America, as well as several internationally based firms, gather at the show every year to introduce, demonstrate, and view the latest industry technology.

The GlassBuild America 2010, scheduled for September 14-16 in Las Vegas, will feature high-level panel discussions on solar energy and energy efficiency for the second consecutive year; the 5th annual Glazing Executives Forum will explore the increasing use of energy-efficient glass; and the inaugural Window & Door Dealers Forum will focus on best practices in energy efficiency.
