WASHINGTON, DC  (May 31, 2006) – The National Glass Association (NGA) has announced Bob Beranek of Automotive Glass Consultants, Inc. of Sun Prairie, WI as the 2006 recipient of the Len Stolk Special Achievement Award. The award was presented to Beranek during the Opening Session at the National Auto Glass Conference & EXPO held May 17-19, 2006 in Tucson, AZ.

The award recognizes Beranek’s three decades of work in the auto glass industry. Beranek started in the auto glass industry in 1973 and founded his company, Automotive Glass Consultants, Inc., in 1992. He actively serves on NGA’s Auto Glass Certification Committee and sits on the AGRSS/ANSI Standard Development Committee and board of directors. He also developed NGA’s Auto Glass Technical Institute (AGTI) back in 1994, where he is still an instructor today.

NGA’s Len Stolk Special Achievement Award is named in honor of Len Stolk, who passed away prematurely in 1999 after a long battle with cancer.  Stolk was well known for his commitment to auto glass safety and highly regarded by his industry peers.  The award is presented to recognize individuals in the glass industry who have made a significant contribution to the goals and objectives of the NGA. In accepting the award, Beranek reflected on Stolk, “Back in April ‘91 at Captain Carlite’s school, this tall blond guy sat down next to me; that was Len. This award has extra special meaning to me because of Len and all he did.”

Beranek lives in Wisconsin with his wife Ann, and is an active member of his community and many volunteer organizations.  Bob’s wife, his sister Sheila Bross, his son Jay and Jay’s girlfriend Jessica Wisnowski, and his daughter Jill Hughey and her husband Wayde were all in attendance for his award acceptance.
