NGA and Others Seek Congressional Support for COMPETES Act

More than 130 associations and organizations call on Congress to help manufacturers meet supply chain challenges

In a letter sent to Congressional leaders on May 10, 2022, the undersigned organizations sent a strong message of support for advancing bipartisan legislation to strengthen supply chains and enhance U.S. economic competitiveness.

The America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing, Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (COMPETES) Act (H.R.4521) contains provisions that would establish a Manufacturing Security and Resilience Program to support businesses working to develop, diversify, preserve, and improve critical supply chains and the manufacturing of critical goods.

The letter calls on the federal government to dedicate funding to help manufacturers meet supply chain challenges in this time of crisis, as well as supply chain expertise and the ability to nimbly coordinate across agencies and policy silos.
