NGA released A Guide to Recruiting at High School Career Fairs, as well as a toolkit of resources and giveaways to help installing companies raise awareness of the glazing trade. The how-to guide walks companies through how to successfully participate and recruit at career fairs and trades nights.

Workforce development, including recruiting and retaining young people, is increasingly important to the glass and fenestration industry, as finding and keeping labor continues to be a top challenge for companies. To meet the rising need, NGA made workforce development one of its four strategic goals in 2023.

“While we know we’re not alone in the construction labor shortage, we face the additional challenge of educating the public about our trade,” says Jenni Chase, NGA vice president of workforce development. “Most people know what an electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician does and the job opportunities available to them. The same cannot be said of glaziers.

“The guide and toolkit are designed to enable companies to easily and successfully educate high schoolers about our industry and pique their interest in the career path it offers.”

In addition to A Guide to Recruiting at High School Career Fairs, NGA has developed educational postcards to give students, flyers to distribute to high school career counselors, and a variety of sticker giveaways to draw students into conversation about the glass and glazing trade.

Visit the NGA store to download a free digital copy of A Guide to Recruiting at High School Career Fairs, as well as to purchase stickers, postcards and other giveaways.
