Ready to start your career as a glass installer?
Glass companies are hiring across the country. Here’s how to prepare, where to look, and how to take the first step into the glass and glazing industry.
Route 1
High school CTE program or pre-apprenticeship
If you are a student, join your school’s Career and Technical Education program to learn trade math, tool safety, and technical skills that prepare you for the glass industry and bulk up your resume. To find CTE programs, start with your state's department of education website.
Route 2
Train on the job, either as an apprentice or a glazier helper
Download the Career Guide to see if the job is right for you. Then:
- Write a resume
- Search these terms: glazier, glass installer, or glazier apprentice on ZipRecruiter, GlassDoor and Indeed.
- Introduce yourself. Call or visit local glass companies and ask if they’re hiring.
Route 3
Union apprenticeship program
The International Union of Painters & Allied Trades (IUPAT) also offers a glazier/glass worker apprenticeship program. Learn more about apprenticeship opportunities available in your area.
